Return of Holy Communion
One Together: One Body in Christ.
After a long fast from celebrating Holy Communion at St. John's we have returned to Eucharistic Celebration.
Communion will be offered each Sunday at 8 am from the Book of Common Prayer’s Rite II Holy Eucharist service. There are changes to our usual pattern to accommodate best practices of preventing widespread COVID infection including offering communion in one kind only (the bread) and with limited contact between the celebrant and those receiving communion. Hand sanitizer will be available for all who wish to receive immediately before the altar rail and standing stations will be used.
We believe that Holy Communion is a gift of grace from God to us, that God is present in the celebration and that the Holy Eucharist is spiritual food for times such as these. We thank God that we are able to begin celebrating this important sacrament together once again.
As we return to our Eucharistic practice, please bear with us. Everyone, clergy, ushers, and communicants are sorting this out week-by-week and we thank you in advance for your patience.
