Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper & Palm Burning

Tuesday, February 25, 6 pm
At The Rectory, 290 Harbor Road

Shrove Tuesday is the last day before the beginning of Lent, when many people choose to take on special disciplines to connect with God. We will burn last year's palms to use in our Ash Wednesday service.

We are getting organized for this fun event, and need volunteers to help with dinner. Please email Mary Beth ([email protected]) to volunteer. Volunteers will arrive at 5:30 pm.

Please note that this event will take place at the Rectory.

News

St. John's Episcopal Church was the first religious institution to be established in Cold Spring Harbor. The first Episcopalian services were held in the little 18th century school house just above the site of the present church. The very first Vestry minutes, written in fine script on September 4, 1831, lists the founders who pledged $2,000 to build a new church.

Like our lives, our church community is a gift from God we neither earn nor deserve, and yet, it is ours. We are responsible for caring for it, for nourishing it, and for participating in the ever outpouring gift of God's grace which we share through our actions together. We are stewards of these gifts for as long as we live, and we steward the gift of this church so that future generations will have the opportunity to receive God’s grace and put it into action.

Our whole life and ministry is “Grace in Action.”
