Sign Work at the Cemetery
Some of the eagle-eyed among us may have noticed a change in the signage at the Memorial Cemetery of St. John's Church. We are mid-way through our signage project there.
As part of our ongoing care for the Memorial Cemetery, we embarked on a process to replace the weathered wooden signs at the Memorial Cemetery with a more monumental design for such a grand property. As always with any projects at the church or cemetery, we received several bids for a design and then awarded the project to a company well known to the cemetery - Koran Landscaping - which has a sign division.
The signs will ultimately be three-dimensional signs mounted on stone-wrapped pillars. Right now, the signs are two-dimensional trompe-l'oeil designed signs mounted on a kind of plastic while the fabrication process is complete. The signs will look similar on completion but will be a more standard color-scheme inspired by the chapel and superintendents' home.
This work is part of our ongoing rehabilitation and expansion project of the singular beauty of our cemetery that includes rehabilitating the Olmsted design, new plantings, a new terrabarium, signage, a new website for enhanced way-finding throughout the property, and other enhancements that are less visible to cemetery guests and patrons. Watch this space for more detail as these projects continue into the spring!
