Parish Picnic This Sunday! | St. John's Episcopal Church

Food, Fun & Fellowship for all ages are on the menu. Join us immediately after the 10:00 service, for our annual Parish Picnic. Bring the little ones for a bounce house and crafts!

It's a pot luck picnic! Burgers, hot dogs, and drinks will be provided. Parishioners are invited to bring a prepared and ready to serve dish to share (to serve 8-10 people) according to your last name - please be sure to label any food containing nuts.

Parishioners with last names A - R are invited to bring a potluck side or salad
Parishioners with last names S - Z are invited to bring a dessert

We honor our choir, Sunday school teachers and graduating seniors for their hard work this year!

Extra hands are needed to help set up and clean up. Please let Winn Keaten or Seamus Mitchell know if you would like to assist in set up or clean up.

News

St. John's Episcopal Church was the first religious institution to be established in Cold Spring Harbor. The first Episcopalian services were held in the little 18th century school house just above the site of the present church. The very first Vestry minutes, written in fine script on September 4, 1831, lists the founders who pledged $2,000 to build a new church.

Like our lives, our church community is a gift from God we neither earn nor deserve, and yet, it is ours. We are responsible for caring for it, for nourishing it, and for participating in the ever outpouring gift of God's grace which we share through our actions together. We are stewards of these gifts for as long as we live, and we steward the gift of this church so that future generations will have the opportunity to receive God’s grace and put it into action.

Our whole life and ministry is “Grace in Action.”
