St. John's Day: Thank You | St. John's Episcopal Church

Thank you to everyone who made St. John's Day this year such a festive success!

The whole morning was filled with a fun and wonderful spirit. Of course, it helps to have ALL THE CHOIRS present! So thanks to Bryce and all the choir members for their incredible musical offerings. It was amazing, as always! Our YouTube feed doesn't capture the quality and spirit of the morning, but everything was so beautiful.

Thanks to our hospitality committee for the incredible coffee hour, which ranks as one of our best ever. And, of course, thanks to the Laimo Family for being such an important part of our celebration.

Congratulations to Dr. Carol Weitner, and thank you for your 30 years of service to St. John's. We all look forward to celebrating this milestone with you in January.

News

St. John's Episcopal Church was the first religious institution to be established in Cold Spring Harbor. The first Episcopalian services were held in the little 18th century school house just above the site of the present church. The very first Vestry minutes, written in fine script on September 4, 1831, lists the founders who pledged $2,000 to build a new church.

Like our lives, our church community is a gift from God we neither earn nor deserve, and yet, it is ours. We are responsible for caring for it, for nourishing it, and for participating in the ever outpouring gift of God's grace which we share through our actions together. We are stewards of these gifts for as long as we live, and we steward the gift of this church so that future generations will have the opportunity to receive God’s grace and put it into action.

Our whole life and ministry is “Grace in Action.”
