St. John's Welcomes Rob Radtke, President of ERD

Coffee Hour

Also on the Day of Pentecost, St. John's will welcome Rob Radtke as guest preacher at both worship services and as host of a special coffee hour following the 10 am service. Rob will outline the work of Episcopal Relief and Development (ERD) of which he is the President. ERD works in collaboration with church partners and other local organizations to facilitate healthier, more fulfilling lives in communities that are struggling with hunger, poverty, disaster and disease around the world and here in the U.S. responding to and rebuilding after disasters. Their programs impact the lives of over 3 million people annually.

News

St. John's Episcopal Church was the first religious institution to be established in Cold Spring Harbor. The first Episcopalian services were held in the little 18th century school house just above the site of the present church. The very first Vestry minutes, written in fine script on September 4, 1831, lists the founders who pledged $2,000 to build a new church.

Like our lives, our church community is a gift from God we neither earn nor deserve, and yet, it is ours. We are responsible for caring for it, for nourishing it, and for participating in the ever outpouring gift of God's grace which we share through our actions together. We are stewards of these gifts for as long as we live, and we steward the gift of this church so that future generations will have the opportunity to receive God’s grace and put it into action.

Our whole life and ministry is “Grace in Action.”
