Thank You Youth! | St. John's Episcopal Church

Thanks to all of the young people who helped make Youth Sunday such a delight! First to our preacher, Sophie Bradford. You can watch her sermon in the service below, or listen to it HERE. Our strings quintet, Brooke, Byrd, Peyton, Theo and Woodford were a delight. Our young ushers, Wood and Maeve were so welcoming. Davis and Vivian helpfully carried the elements up for Eucharist. We had excellent readers as well, Gwendolyn and A.J. (Zara)! Peyton and Byrd also bravely served as users.

News

St. John's Episcopal Church was the first religious institution to be established in Cold Spring Harbor. The first Episcopalian services were held in the little 18th century school house just above the site of the present church. The very first Vestry minutes, written in fine script on September 4, 1831, lists the founders who pledged $2,000 to build a new church.

Like our lives, our church community is a gift from God we neither earn nor deserve, and yet, it is ours. We are responsible for caring for it, for nourishing it, and for participating in the ever outpouring gift of God's grace which we share through our actions together. We are stewards of these gifts for as long as we live, and we steward the gift of this church so that future generations will have the opportunity to receive God’s grace and put it into action.

Our whole life and ministry is “Grace in Action.”
