Volunteer Soccer Coaches Urgently Needed! | St. John's Episcopal Church

Volunteers are urgently needed to help with PAL Youth Soccer in Huntington. The Suffolk County Police Athletic League is offering a no-cost soccer program for children in grades 2-8. This new program is drawing large numbers of low-income children in our area, many of whom have nowhere else to be after school. The program is in urgent need of adult volunteers to help coach and play with the kids. The program meets at Manor Field Park on Thursdays from 3:30-5:45 pm, and runs from September 19 to November 14.

News

St. John's Episcopal Church was the first religious institution to be established in Cold Spring Harbor. The first Episcopalian services were held in the little 18th century school house just above the site of the present church. The very first Vestry minutes, written in fine script on September 4, 1831, lists the founders who pledged $2,000 to build a new church.

Like our lives, our church community is a gift from God we neither earn nor deserve, and yet, it is ours. We are responsible for caring for it, for nourishing it, and for participating in the ever outpouring gift of God's grace which we share through our actions together. We are stewards of these gifts for as long as we live, and we steward the gift of this church so that future generations will have the opportunity to receive God’s grace and put it into action.

Our whole life and ministry is “Grace in Action.”
