Thanksgiving Day Service

It is a beautiful St. John's tradition to begin Thanksgiving day together with our Thanksgiving day service.

We have had a Thanksgiving day service for as long as anyone can remember. It is a beautiful way to start your day of giving thanks to God for all the blessings of family, health, life and harvest.

Please join us on Thursday, November 24 at 10:00 AM for this special opportunity. If you would like to participate in our service as a Lector, Lay Eucharistic Minister or Usher, we are looking for volunteers. Please sign up in Ministry Scheduler Pro.

News

St. John's Episcopal Church was the first religious institution to be established in Cold Spring Harbor. The first Episcopalian services were held in the little 18th century school house just above the site of the present church. The very first Vestry minutes, written in fine script on September 4, 1831, lists the founders who pledged $2,000 to build a new church.

Like our lives, our church community is a gift from God we neither earn nor deserve, and yet, it is ours. We are responsible for caring for it, for nourishing it, and for participating in the ever outpouring gift of God's grace which we share through our actions together. We are stewards of these gifts for as long as we live, and we steward the gift of this church so that future generations will have the opportunity to receive God’s grace and put it into action.

Our whole life and ministry is “Grace in Action.”
