Youth Volunteer Afternoon: Bag Lunch Prep for the Homeless

Wednesday, Feb 13, 3:30 - 5:30 pm

Young parishioners are invited to help our ministry to the homeless after school. Join Deb Cordes, St. John's coordinator for the Huntington Interfaith Homeless Initiative, as she prepares food and bag lunches. These meals will be served and shared the following night at a local pop-up shelter. For any questions please email our Curate, Jesse Lebus ([email protected]).

News

St. John's Episcopal Church was the first religious institution to be established in Cold Spring Harbor. The first Episcopalian services were held in the little 18th century school house just above the site of the present church. The very first Vestry minutes, written in fine script on September 4, 1831, lists the founders who pledged $2,000 to build a new church.

Like our lives, our church community is a gift from God we neither earn nor deserve, and yet, it is ours. We are responsible for caring for it, for nourishing it, and for participating in the ever outpouring gift of God's grace which we share through our actions together. We are stewards of these gifts for as long as we live, and we steward the gift of this church so that future generations will have the opportunity to receive God’s grace and put it into action.

Our whole life and ministry is “Grace in Action.”
